THE JOURNEY
EVERY VENTURE, PIVOT, AND PARTNERSHIP ALONG THE WAY
HAS SHAPED A CAREER GROUNDED IN PURPOSE.
2007
BONETA

Mark Brand co-founded the Gastown restaurant that would become a Vancouver institution. Named one of EnRoute Magazine’s Top 10
Best New Restaurants in Canada, Boneta helped spark a
culinary and cultural revival in the neighbourhood.
Known for its open kitchen, bold design, and unpretentious elegance, it quickly earned a reputation as a go-to for creatives, chefs, and change-makers. More than a restaurant, it was a scene, a place that proved food could be high-end without being high-brow, and that
hospitality could be both excellent and deeply personal.
Boneta set the tone for a career built on intention,
impact, and community.
2008

Mark Brand and partner Alex Usow launched the retail‑
concept storefront, Sharks & Hammers, in Gastown.
It blurred fashion, art, and community, becoming
more than a store, it was a platform for
local creatives and culture.
